My T1P experience has been generally good, definitely not perfect. There is a way to make this model work.

Painting concept is simple, people at That 1 Painter are fantastic. Training overall is very good, but there are a million different painting scenarios that can't be taught and you are on your own to figure those out. Franchisor overall is doing everything they can to generate best practices, engage franchisees, and put talented people in place to help franchisees succeed and he profitable including in leadership, operations and marketing. Downside...figuring out a way to be profitable and cash flow positive while building a team, paying subs, and a 8% fee. If you can't find subs willing to work for well below market rates or can't sell customers for well above market rates, margin is not enough to cover basic expenses and royalties, let alone a staff to get you "working on the business and not in the business." Top franchisee operators are all doing the work, and those who aren't doing the work are investing significantly. Hindsight 20/20, if you have risk to start with nothing, a painting business can be easy. You can build a great business with homeowners who don't want to pay much and don't expect much, and establish a team/systems before building a high quality team with high quality customers. Amazing how many "painters" can make money by doing terrible work. Bar is super low. But for That 1 Painter as a business to work, you need to execute at 50-60% margin to even began to build a team.

I joined this because I saw Codie Sanchez make a video about it. Suffice to say it is an absolutely horrible concept and it was one of the biggest regrets of my life that I got caught up in the process. Now I'm just running a painting business, trying to get my wife not to divorce me. None of the promises made are real - whether these are actual frauds or not, I don't really care to explore. These folks are very clever with how they phrase things during the sales process. Everyone I know in the network is struggling with the same issues. Stay far far away from this network.

I'm not comfortable getting into too many details. I would say that T1P has underwhelmed compared to expectations. We are basically running a painting company by ourselves with the perk of having a truck wrap, a CRM (which needed a different login for each territory even though they were right next to us), company touted "AI tools" that we could've easily built ourselves, and a virtual date with Codie Sanchez which got props etc together buyers interested but has made no meaningful impact on the existing franchisee's day to day
